Washington on Hold, States Surging Ahead
Our plan in Washington is on hold right now pending meetings with key congressmen in the week ahead. Schedules would not allow for these meetings sooner, and they need to take place before our call blitz is launched, so we’re having to postpone that blitz for a week or two. We appreciate your patience while those meetings occur.
In the meantime, however, State efforts are not stalled in the least. In fact, our goal to have 40 states considering resolutions in favor of the Parental Rights Amendment this year is already a thing of the past. We currently have efforts underway in 41 states – not counting the 2 (LA and SD) who have already passed such resolutions.
In fact, the only states not having or working on resolutions right now are Connecticut, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont. If you live in one of these states and want to get the ball rolling, feel free to download sample language here, or email us for more information.
In the weeks ahead, you will be able to check parentalrights.org/resolution (our State Resolutions page)for updates on the progress in your state. In addition, we will send out emails on a state-by-state basis (as needed) to let you know when to call your state legislature in order to keep your resolution moving forward.
I’m not sure if our call blitz will kick off next week or the week after, but I will work to keep you informed. In the meantime, I appreciate your patience and cooperation until we are ready to launch. Stay tuned, and together we will win the victory in our states and in Congress this year!
Sincerely,
Michael Ramey
Director of Communications and Research
