Parents Shutout Internationals in
Blow-out Victories
Sounds like a great sports page, doesn't it? Consider what some of the headlines could be:

Parents Shutout Internationals in Blow-out Victories

Defenses win championships, and internationalists recently ran afoul of a blistering defense by supporters of parental rights – twice! Internationalist efforts to pass resolutions in Rhode Island and Illinois that would urge ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child were both stymied by floods of phone calls in opposition. Rhode Island lawmakers received enough calls to table the measure there even in the face of a group of disappointed Catholic School children brought in by their teachers as “human shields,” as one leader put it, to try to push the resolution through. (Read more at C-FAM here.) Meanwhile, Illinois lawmakers were receiving phone calls against their measure “at the rate of one per minute,” according to an account from HSLDA. The lead sponsor of that resolution decided not to call up the measure in committee.

Amendment Wins 12-3 on the Road

Let’s face it. Although parental rights are an issue we can all agree on, Democrats – especially in D.C. – still want to see this as a Republican issue, leaving them slow to support. But as a resolution supporting the Amendment wends its way through the Florida legislature, it has garnered the support of 12 of the 15 Democrats who have voted on it in committee. We expect this measure to pass both houses in the coming weeks with broad bipartisan support.

Tide Rolls On

In addition to the flood of resistance to the CRC in Rhode Island and Illinois and the unstoppable resolution in Florida, Alabama has joined the list of states with a Parental Rights Amendment resolution introduced. Resolution efforts remain active in Texas, Minnesota, Georgia, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Maine as well. States that have already called on Congress to propose the Amendment (that is, states that have passed resolutions) include South Dakota, Louisiana, Idaho and Montana, while Oklahoma and Tennessee are on record opposing ratification of the CRC. Here’s to hoping for an Alabama victory that even non-sports fans will love!
Action Items
Continue to spread the word. Send your friends to ParentalRights.org/petition and urge them to join the list. Next time we have a huge call blitz victory, they can be a part of it!

Also, donate to the cause. There is a cost behind every email alert and a cost to provide research and other resources to promote state resolutions and the Parental Rights Amendment. Help us bear these costs so our string of victories can continue.

Sincerely,
