NCFA Releases Adoption Advocate No. 47: Advocating for America's Youth in Foster Care: Perspectives and Recommendations from Former Foster Youth
May is National Foster Care Month, and this month's issue of NCFA's Adoption Advocate,
"Advocating for America's Youth in Foster Care: Perspectives and
Recommendations from Former Foster Youth," is based on interviews with
former Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute Foster Youth
Interns Jetaine Hart, Marisela Ortiz, Jeremy Long, Jelani Freeman, Mason
McFalls, and John Paul Horn. As we work to improve the lives and
outcomes of children and youth in foster care, we must try to understand
the experiences and perspectives of those in care, listen to them, and
act on their recommendations. It is NCFA's hope that the thoughtful,
honest, and compelling responses shared by these former Foster Youth
Interns will help adoption and child welfare advocates better understand
and work for the best interests of the many thousands of children and
youth in foster care.
The Adoption Advocate
is a monthly publication created by NCFA to educate policymakers,
families, child welfare specialists, and other interested parties on
today's most relevant child welfare and adoption issues.
