Spotlight on National Foster Care Month
As of July 2012, there were 500,540 children and youth in foster care, many of whom were between the ages of 12 and 17. Youth who exit foster care without permanent families or connections are at risk for myriad negative outcomes. The theme for the 2013 National Foster Care Month is Supporting Youth in Transition. This month, CBX highlights a higher education program for transitioning youth, a tool for evaluating youth connectedness, and other information about foster care.
