The clock is ticking for WIC
|
If
the government shutdown continues, WIC might come to a standstill. WIC
was created in 1973 to improve the health of low-income pregnant women,
new mothers, and young children. It serves nearly 9 million today, and
has a positive impact on children's health and even economics.

Child Trends is pleased to announce that Carlise King has been appointed executive director of the Early Childhood Data Collaborative
(ECDC). The ECDC supports state policymakers' development and use of
coordinated state early care and education data systems to improve the
quality of programs and the workforce serving young children. Carlise,
who has been serving as interim executive director, has over 13 years of
experience conducting research on early childhood issues and examining
the impact of state and federal policies on parents' access to child
care services, costs, and a quality workforce.
