Integrated
student supports (ISS) is one promising approach for promoting academic
success that is taking hold in communities across the country. But what
are integrated student supports, and are they effective at improving
educational outcomes? Child Trends examined the research and evidence
base for ISS, and its potential to help disadvantaged, marginalized, or
struggling students. Here are the results.

Delve

Linking early childhood data |
Most
states can't answer key policy questions about all children served in
publicly-funded early care and education programs because child-level
data are not linked across programs. The 2013 State of States' Early
Childhood Data Systems report is based on a survey of 50 states and the
District of Columbia, assessing the coordination of their early
childhood data systems. The report is a product of the Early Childhood
Data Collaborative, of which Child Trends is a partner. How's your state doing?
|
Collecting and using data are important aspects of improving early care and education systems. This roadmap will help states and localities build strong data infrastructures that support quality improvement and data reporting.

Research
findings on the association between child care subsidy use and
children's developmental outcomes have been mixed. Here's a review of the literature on child care subsidies, to help administrators, developers and policymakers choose and implement them.
Both of these are
products of the Child Care and Early Education Policy and Research
Analysis Project at the Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation.
