Please take a 5-minute survey about the National Foster Care Month website to help us identify the resources and services that best serve your needs Child Welfare Evaluation Virtual Summit Series The Children's Bureau (CB) is pleased to announce the release of two new videos in continuation of the Child Welfare Evaluation Virtual Summit Series: Creating a New Narrative: Collaborative and Effective Evaluation in Tribal Communities Throughout U.S. history, many American Indian and Alaska Native communities have experienced intrusive research and judgmental evaluations that have caused harm. As a result, many fears about evaluation persist. Based on the efforts of a CB-sponsored workgroup of experts, this video introduces a vision for the future of Tribal child welfare evaluation and a guide for developing culturally appropriate and scientifically rigorous evaluation. Use of Research Evidence: Building Two-Way Streets In this video, Dr. Vivian Tseng suggests that researchers and evaluators need to think differently about the ways that research is acquired and used. A Guide for Behavioral Health/Mental Health Professionals Describes how behavioral health/mental health professionals and child welfare workers can support one another's efforts in promoting healthy functioning and well-being among children and families in child welfare. https://www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/cw_mentalhealth.cfm The Children's Bureau Legacy: Ensuring the Right to Childhood During the 1960s, several Children's Bureau programs, such as maternal and child health, were broadened in scope and then moved to other Federal agencies, leaving the Bureau to sharpen its focus on child maltreatment, foster care, and adoption. Domestic Violence Web Section In recent years, increased attention has been focused on children who witness violence between family members at home.
