The disruption of higher education just got very interesting. It appears that the disruptors — private, online universities — are being disrupted at their own game. One of the pantheons of traditional on-site learning, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has announced it will be launching online courses that will be free and open to the world. And, in the process, plans to offer certificates to students successfully completing the coursework. FULL STORY

I left a nice comment there-
The author of this article seems to be blissfully unaware of Childrens "Protective" Services. As far as they are concerned, homeschooling is "educational neglect", for which they will happily kidnap your child(ren), put them on antipsychotic dope, and place them with homosexual fosters.
As an added feature, they will do a character assassination on you (the parent) and run you through the unconstitutional courts of NO Due Process.
It's a LOT worse out here in the proletariat than people realize.

On what foundation is the present family, the bourgeois family, based? On capital, on private gain. In its completely developed form, this family exists only among the bourgeoisie. But this state of things finds its complement in the practical absence of the family among proletarians, and in public prostitution.
The bourgeois family will vanish as a matter of course when its complement vanishes, and both will vanish with the vanishing of capital.
Do you charge us with wanting to stop the exploitation of children by their parents? To this crime we plead guilty.
But, you say, we destroy the most hallowed of relations, when we replace home education by social.
And your education! Is not that also social, and determined by the social conditions under which you educate, by the intervention direct or indirect, of society, by means of schools, etc.? SAT scores for Oregon high school seniors trend lower but still above national average

Well, technically that is true. Placing 22 out of 50 IS "above national average". Not by much. Still trending lower. Which is no surprise.
By the way, Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt's "the deliberate dumbing down of america" published in 1999 deals with this situation. For anybody who might be interested, that huge book can now be read for FREE online- http://deliberatedumbingdown.com
It is a very large book, full of complicated words. Beyond the comprehension level of most public school graduates (or drop outs).
John Taylor Gatto had plenty to say about this subject too. But nobody remembers (or cares) who he was. You can look him up on the internet.
Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" is a much easier read, and makes you sound really smart while shaking your RED FIST in comments sections- as we see in the comments above.
