Break the poverty link to child abuse

...When we think of abuse, we think of people beating or sexually molesting kids. But the definition of abuse includes neglect, which is denying children critical care. It can include not feeding them adequately or getting them to a doctor when they're sick. It can mean leaving them home alone or with a "baby sitter" who shouldn't be trusted when parents go to work. Many who neglect their kids have drug and mental health problems.

To help kids, Iowa needs to help families meet their basic needs - with employment opportunities, health care, child care subsidies and food assistance.

...Kids can't eat dinner if the parents can't buy food. They don't go to the doctor if a mom can't afford to pay the bill. If a dad gets help paying for child care, it's less likely he'll leave young siblings home to fend for themselves. Connecting Iowans with basic services prevents abuse and neglect."  FULL STORY

We live in a society that is going on the trash heap as fast as we can go. We have a morals and ethics problem, and it's being "fixed" with a Socialist mop
