Under
what circumstances can a student be suspended or expelled? When are
schools in your state required to report to law enforcement? Last week,
the U.S. Department of Education, in collaboration with the U.S.
Department of Justice, released a school discipline guidance package to
assist states, districts and schools in developing practices and
strategies to enhance school climate. The package includes a compendium
of state laws and regulations about student discipline-compiled by Child
Trends and searchable online, for each state, by specific approach,
infraction, oversight, and more.

Most of us recognize that it is important to listen to the people we
serve, but many of us have yet to go beyond recognition to real action
in this realm. Presenters in this PerformWell webinar will talk about
why and how to really involve clients or participants in
decision-making, how to make it affordable for programs, and how to know
if these efforts have been successful. PerformWell is a partnership
between the Urban Institute, Child Trends and Social Solutions.
