ROSEBURG, Ore. -- One local organization is asking parents and families to help foster
Greater Oregon Behavioral Health Incorporated (GOBHI) is a non-profit mental health and child placing agency.
They are looking for families interested in becoming children's therapeutic foster homes.
The kids who need a home are on intensive children's treatment services, and have not succeeded in other foster homes.
Most of the kids have been bounced around multiple places, and officials want to be able to offer them a more stable environment. "They need a place, a home to go to, and we just don't have any right now," said Becky Miller. "That means that we have to look at outside resources in Portland and out of area, and it's really hard when you take a child from this area and send them somewhere foreign."
Currently, GOBHI has more kids than homes, and they're in desperate need of more families in the community to serve as foster homes.
If you're interested, you can attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, January 25, at 4:00 p.m. in room 101 of the Douglas County Health Department.
For more information you can call Becky at (541) 464-3803.

I left a nice comment there-
Wow. I could write a book about how many BIG rattlesnakes are hiding in this garden.
Becoming a Foster Parent for normal kids kidnapped for no reason from "good enough homes"- is fraught with dangers.
But becoming a "therapeutic foster home" is choosing to walk bare-legged in a snake pit.
