Conn. bill would expand notice of child abuse complaints

Published: Sunday, March 13, 2011

HARTFORD (AP) — A Connecticut legislative committee has endorsed a proposal that requires state child welfare officials to inform parents who don't have custody of their children about abuse or neglect complaints that involve their children.

The bill would require the state Department of Families and Children to notify those parents within 10 days.

Exceptions would be made if a court order limits that parent's rights regarding the child, or if officials determine the notification wouldn't be in the child's best interests.  FULL STORY

Since such notification would look bad for CPS, and "Best Interest of the Child" really means "Best Interest of CPS", it looks like the legislation is an exercise in futility.
