SCRANTON, Pennsylvania – An Edwardsville man who battled for 4 1/2 years to obtain custody of his child from Luzerne County Children and Youth Services has filed a federal lawsuit against the agency, alleging it discriminated against him because he is a man.
Fred Clayworth, 46, says the agency had no justifiable reason to place his daughter in foster care immediately after her birth. He said he did everything that was asked of him, but the agency repeatedly thwarted his efforts so that it could give the child to foster parents who wished to adopt her.
The lawsuit, filed by attorney Barry Dyller of Wilkes-Barre, is the latest in a recent string of lawsuits and other court filings that challenge Children and Youth’s practices and policies. FULL STORY
