Texas- In a surprise deal, all sides in the fight over a controversial “loser pays” bill agreed this evening to a new version of the House-passed measure that had been the focus of a pitched legislative battle just days ago.
Senate leaders said the revised Senate version of House Bill 274 will limit court costs and expedite the dismissal of meritless lawsuits, two key goals of the legislation whose passage has been a top priority of Gov. Rick Perry. FULL STORY
