Introducing the Strong Foundations Social Media Campaign

Child Trends is pleased to introduce a national social media effort aimed at increasing awareness about the large and growing body of research supporting early childhood policies.  The Strong Foundations #B25 Social Media Campaign draws upon the latest research and encourages organizations with an interest in early childhood issues to use social media tools to promote research-based messages.

During February, and continuing throughout early 2012, partners to the Birth to Five Policy Alliance, and any other interested organizations wishing to participate, will post messages on Twitter and Facebook and link those messages to targeted research summaries and other national resources.  Organizations that have already joined the campaign and are actively communicating about early childhood research include the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the Blank Foundation, the First Five Years Fund, the Maine Children's Alliance, Arizona's First Things First, and many more!

Child Trends developed a simple How-To Guide, with tips for how best to participate in the campaign, including using the #B25 hash tag in your tweets to unify this national effort.  To make it even easier to participate, Child Trends also developed sample tweets and Facebook posts across 13 important early childhood research issues. We encourage organizations and individuals that care about children's issues to tweet and post these messages.  The How-To Guide also provides guidance to organizations interested in communicating about policies specific to their state, such as leveraging the vast data available at sources such as KIDS COUNT, National Center for Children in Poverty, CLASP, and ZERO TO THREE.

Be sure to follow the conversation on Twitter at #B25 and check the Birth to Five Policy Alliance website for updated information. We also encourage you to follow Child Trends on Twitter  and get information specific to young kids under six years old @YoungChildFacts!
