Deciding if it's child neglect

Sure, parents get busy.

Life is hectic; they get distracted. They have momentary lapses of judgment that can unintentionally put their little ones in harm's way. And they're usually the first to slap themselves in the head over it.

But a couple of recent Omaha cases — a baby left in a car in near 100-degree temperatures, a 7-year-old alone in an SUV while dad prayed in church — demonstrate how poor decisions can cross the line into allegations of criminal neglect. FULL STORY
