Have you ever eaten something in a store, planning to pay on the way out? Would you ever imagine forgetting to pay would result in your arrest and CPS taking your child?

One of our members in community, told the January 2012 Birth Club, how she was arrested and her 3 year old daughter was taken by CPS over two $2.50 sandwiches.

According to her she went to a grocery store with her husband where they ate those sandwiches. They saved the wrappers to pay on the way out. Distracted while bagging all their other groceries and dealing with a cranky toddler, the wrappers were left in the cart and forgotten.

On the way out, they were confronted by store employees. Although they offered immediately to pay the $5.00, the police were called and they were arrested at the insistence of the manager.

According to mother – who is pregnant by the way – “The police tried to arrange to have one of us arrested at a time, but it was not possible. They had to call Child Protective Services to take our daughter because we have no friends or family here….. Our bail was $50 each, and we are charged with Fourth Degree Theft. Neither of us has ever been arrested before, or dealt with CPS. We called and called the office already and the social worker said that Child Welfare Services has three business days to return our daughter or decide to keep her. FULL STORY

I left a nice comment there (subject to moderation)-

If things go like usual for parents whose children have been kidnapped by CPS, that child is likely gone forever.

The parents will sell everything they own to pay an attorney, who will likely be clueless how to muster a Vigorous Defense in the unconstitutional court of NO Due Process.

Penniless, and homeless, their employment prospects will be severely curtailed because they are on the Child Abuse Register.

That’s what’s NORMAL when CPS sinks their talons into a family.

  1. I left a comment there too.

I would not put it past CPS to make up any excuse to snatch a kid. In fact, now that they have the kid, I wouldn’t put it past them to fabricate some evidence, falsify some documents and put the parents through the ringer.

Other comments have since been published. Interesting.
