Mark your calendars for October 19th, for a national conversation about improving educational outcomes for students in foster care.
On October 19th, Fostering Media Connections (FMC) and the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) are convening a live webcasts with a range relevant of stakeholders, including Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA); Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA); George Sheldon, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Cheryl Smithgall, Research Fellow at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago; Mike Jones, Sacramento Educator and Co-Founder of Courageous Connection; Care y Sommmer, an alum of Courageous Connection and Jetaine Hart, an alum of foster care and educational mentor.
The conversation will cover challenges and solutions to improving educational outcomes for children and youth in care and highlight the release of report outlining the issue and offering examples of promising practices.
