Calls Needed: CRPD Hearing Thursday!
The U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations will hold a hearing on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) this Thursday, July 12. This is another step toward ratification of this dangerous treaty.

If ratified, the CRPD would undermine the right of parents with disabled children to make decisions for that child, by establishing the “best interest of the child” standard in every case, removing the presumption that fit parents act in the best interest of their child already.

In short, it would make the government, not the parent, ultimately responsible for child-rearing decisions. It would obligate the national government to see that every child with disabilities is raised according to the standards set by the U.N., regardless of parental beliefs or even state law.

ParentalRights.org President Michael Farris, a scholar of constitutional and international law, will testify on Thursday against ratification of the CRPD. But we also need your help.

Action Items: Please Call
The hearing provides us with the opportunity to enter reasons for our opposition into the official congressional record. But it won’t really sway a lot of committee members either way. For that to happen, they will need to hear from you.

So please, before closing this email, call your senators and urge them to oppose ratification of Treaty 112-7, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Tell them American law is sufficient to protect these rights, and we do not need to subject ourselves to international rule. Tell them you support the traditional role of parents which this ratification would undermine. Tell them American law protecting the disabled is already the best in the world without surrendering any of our sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats.

To reach them you can call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121, or click on your state at ParentalRights.org/States for their D.C. Office direct number.

Then, contact the White House and urge President Obama to withdraw the CRPD from consideration. The White House switchboard is 202-456-1414.

Thank you for standing with us as we work to defend the rights and freedoms of your family.

Sincerely,

Michael Ramey
