Webinar: Connecting Children to Kin: An Exploration of Family Finding
Thursday, July 12, 2012
2 - 3:30 PM EDT
Child
Trends is pleased to announce a webinar to highlight policy and
practice insights related to child welfare agencies' use of family
finding models. The webinar, "Connecting
Children to Kin: An Exploration of Family Finding," will showcase the
experiences of state and local programs that have implemented family
finding in their states and communities. The webinar will also summarize federal policies aimed at promoting the use of family finding. Since
2008, Child Trends has been evaluating family finding in multiple
states and localities across the country. Family finding is an approach
for connecting children in foster care to family members and other
caring adults. In recent months, Child Trends has published a series of
research briefs, including two briefs describing child welfare
professionals' views of and experiences with the discovery and
engagement processes of the family finding model and a third brief
related to family finding's impact on children's permanency outcomes.
Copies of these briefs can be found here.
Please
join us for this webinar on Thursday, July 12 from 2-3:30 pm EDT to
hear from invited experts involved in family finding programs. Invited

family; provide an overview of family finding approaches; and discuss
