New congress means new supporters of Parental Rights Amendment

November 4, 2010

Dear Champion of Parental Rights,

By now you’ve probably seen or heard election results from many different angles, with pundits from across the political spectrum sharing their opinions of what the outcome means for America. So I won’t add any opinions on the matter, but I do want to share one exciting fact: between returning cosponsors and newly-elected congressmen who have signed our pledge, we have 156 supporters of the Parental Rights Amendment going into the 112th Congress this January!

While this is a victory in itself, our work is not done. We will be working with Rep. Fortenberry and Sen. DeMint to turn these promises into reality, aiming to bring on board as many as we can prior to January 3rd’s introduction of the new resolutions. (While the Amendment language will not be changed, a new House joint resolution and a new Senate joint resolution must be introduced in each new Congress. HJR 42 and SJR 16 will expire at the end of this lame duck session, and the Parental Rights Amendment will get new numbers in January.)

In addition, we are planning to take action in the coming weeks to get even more new and returning Congress members signed up before the new session begins. As soon as our website is updated, we will send you info on how to proceed with that effort.  FULL STORY
