Update: Foster Dad Charged With Aggravated Statutory Rape

Tennessee- We're learning new details in the case of a foster parent charged with having sex with a 16 year old girl who was in his care. Batson's 15 page background check shows that he has never been in trouble with the law before, in any state. But now, he's in jail, with a $75,000 bond, charged with aggravated statutory rape by an authority figure. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says its for the repeated sexual relations he had with the girl he was supposed to be looking after.
Richard Batson is 41 years old, and worked as a register clerk at TC Thompson Children's Hospital.
....We wanted to know why a young girl would be placed with a single, unemployed man.
The Department of Children Services Spokesperson Rob Johnson says, "That would certainly be something that would raise concerns but on the other hand, you have to look at each situation in its totality."
Johnson explains they wanted to keep the girl with her brothers. But Burns* says she never should have been put in that home. "It's not right, you don't put a single parent with a bunch of kids, you need to have a mom and a dad." FULL STORY
