Mom arrested while celebrating dropped DCFS case

Chicago- A woman was drinking vodka to celebrate DCFS dropping an investigation against her when she was arrested for carrying her 3-month-old child "as if she had a football under her armpit," police said. 

About 4:30 p.m. Saturday officers were dispatched to the northbound lanes of the 5400 block of South Harlem Avenue for a well-being check involving Jamie L. Riley, 27, who was intoxicated while outside with her child, a Chicago police report said. 

Summit police and the Chicago Fire Department were already on the scene where Riley was seen by a witness holding the boy in an "endangering manner" and "as if she had a football under her armpit,'' while trying to pick up a stroller in an incapacitated manner, the report said. 

Riley told police "I was drinking vodka earlier, celebrating with my husband because DCFS dropped their investigation,'' the report said.  FULL STORY

STATESVILLE, NC - A man was charged with child abuse and drug charges after deputies said they found a baby and a large amount of marijuana in a vehicle and the man passed out inside a house.

John Richard Menscer of Statesville was arrested on charges of child abuse, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling to keep/sell a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, resisting a public officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.  FULL STORY
