Time to Call Congress...Sort Of
Phase 2 of the Summer of 76 campaign is just about ready to begin. Actual office visits won’t start until Congress’ August recess period begins August 8, but the time has already come to start scheduling those visits with your congressman’s local office.

To help you with your visit, we have prepared some talking points you can follow, along with a step-by-step lobbying guide. In addition, we are putting together a webinar on August 3 that will go over the basics with you and help prepare you to sit down with your congressman. This webinar will take place before even the earliest visits, but you will not want to wait for the webinar before scheduling your meeting.

Here, then, is the step-by-step order of things:

1. Download and review the talking points and lobbying guide today.
2. Call your local congressional office and set up an appointment during the August District Work Period (Aug. 8 – Sept. 2). (See How to Contact below.)
3. Sign up for the webinar info list. We will email you with details as to exactly when the webinar will take place and how you can attend.
4. Attend the webinar August 3. (This is optional.)
5. Visit your congressman and ask him or her to support the Parental Rights Amendment.

How to contact your local congressional office:

Most contact numbers and addresses are available on our website, so you can just click on your state at parentalrights.org/states. (Be sure to contact their local office nearest to your home.) If your congressman's offices are not listed, we will be adding them shortly. Until then there are a couple of extra steps:

Visit parentalrights.org/states and click on your state. Then click on your congressman’s website link. On their website, most have a link that says “Contact Me,” or something similar. Click on that tab to find addresses for their offices, and select the closest location to your home. Phone numbers will be provided as well.

Thank you so much for participating. There is absolutely no way we can influence that many congressmen without your help!

Gratefully,

Michael Ramey
